Albania has simplified its immigration system so that a work permit and a residence permit are now issued as a single document — the unique permit. If you plan to work in Albania, this is the authorisation you need, and it covers your right to stay as well.
Albania introduced the unique permit in line with EU directives to reduce bureaucracy for non-EU workers. Instead of applying separately for a work authorisation and a residence permit, you now receive one card that covers both. It is issued for one year and is renewable as long as your employment or self-employment status continues.
Any non-Albanian citizen who intends to be employed or conduct paid professional activity in Albania needs a work permit. Turkish and Azerbaijani nationals are not exempt from this requirement — even though they can enter visa-free, working without a permit is illegal and can result in fines for both the employee and the employer.
You do not need a work permit if you are running your own registered company in Albania as a director or shareholder — that situation is covered by a self-employment residence permit instead.
Applications are submitted through the e-Albania portal. Processing typically takes 20 to 40 days. Once approved, you collect your unique permit card from the Migration Directorate office and, if needed, register your address within 30 days of receiving it.
Renewals must be initiated at least 60 days before the current permit expires. Renewal documents are similar to the initial application but you do not need to repeat the labour market test.
We prepare the full document package, coordinate with your employer where needed, submit the application through e-Albania, and follow up with the Migration Directorate until your unique permit is issued. We communicate in Turkish and English throughout and keep you informed at every step.
